Jimblah

Coming off the back of winning the 2007 Hilltop Hoods Initiative, Jimblah is one artist you definitely want to be checking for.

Jimblah is a name that can be associated with such artists as A-Love and BVA from Mnemonic Ascent , to name a few. It is also a name that has appeared on B-Sharp’s Mixtape Volumes 1 and 2 and on F&D’s track Cool Love – including the associated video clip.

He has performed at various festivals including The Spirit Festival, Big Day Out, Groove and Good Vibrations. He also helps out wherever he can in the local indigenous hip hop scene in Adelaide.

Jimblah is someone who represents his Indigenous roots to the fullest, never forgetting nor compromising who he is – a strength of self that shines through in his music.

Jimblah moved from the Northern parts of Australia to Adelaide at a young age and quickly fell in to the Hip Hop scene there, originally influenced by more commercial Hip Hop, but learning more about Hip Hop as a way of life and a culture the more he became involved in the local scene. He started out by freestyling regularly; rapping with others and writing tracks by the age of 15. Now he represents Hip Hop culture to the full.

However, Jimblah has not forgotten his roots. While working as a tutor for over the past three years for organisations such as Deadly Vibe, Lower North Murrays club, Carclew Youth Arts and Kurruru Indigenous Youth Performing Arts, he has had the chance to teach what he love’s, Hip Hop. He has had the opportunity to travel out to regional areas such as the Flinders Ranges, Ceduna, Leigh Creek, maree, copley, iga warta, port lincholn, port augusta, as well as teaching in various schools and detention centre’s around Adelaide.

2010 is a year in which Jimblah hopes to really let his voice be heard. Stay tuned!!
