What do you think of when you hear the music of Laura Hill?

You think: the smell of coconut and pineapple, sunshine, the sound of rain on your roof, an exciting road trip with your mates, hammocks, and relaxing with good company; toes in the sand and a cool beer in hand.

This South Australian ex-competitive surfer is influenced by travel, nature, life experiences, and the beauty of people. Laura’s sound is engaging, honest, light-hearted and very memorable. She is a refreshing musical summer cocktail that leaves a delightful taste on your lips.

Life is too short

Laura’s musical story began when her Mother nearly died due to sickness. After her recovery, Laura traveled around the world to surf destinations like Morocco, Spain and Costa Rica. When returning to the shores of Australia she decided to listen to her heart, fuel the fire in her belly and take a skip down the musical path

Influenced by her surfing lifestyle, travel, nature, people and life experiences, Laura’s sound is unique, honest, light-hearted and memorable.

Her debut album “Over My Shoulder” is now out and was made in conjunction with Sydney based producer Ian Pritchett (Angus and Julia Stone, The Beautiful Girls) and is receiving airplay on the ABC, Triple J, Nova, PBS, and 3D radio.

So kick back, relax and immerse yourself in the feel good, heartfelt refreshing sounds of Laura Hill & The Tuesday Bandits. Laura’s song writing is riding one big beautiful wave into the hearts and ears of people all over Australia.

What people are saying about Over My Shoulder:

“A lot of girls play guitar and sing, and a lot of girls who play guitar and sing sound exactly the same. But there’s something just a little bit different about the way Adelaide troupe Laura Hill & The Tuesday Bandits do things. It’s all in the subtlety when it comes to the opening tune off Laura Hill’s debut record – Brown Paper Bag it’ isn’t reinventing the wheel, nor does it ever claim to. It’s a simple, softly-spoken song that takes you away to sunny beaches where you can taste the salty air.
- Dom Alessio Triple J – Home and Hosed Track Review Brown Paper Bag

“Oh my – don’t let this one slip under the radar! “Over My Shoulder” is the full-length debut of Laura Hill and the Tuesday Bandits, but you’d be forgiven for thinking otherwise – this is the work of a band who knows exactly what they want to achieve, and has the confidence and talent to make it happen [...] “Over My Shoulder” is a fantastic achievement from these talented locals, and comes highly recommended to anyone who loves good music and good times – and especially for those who love variety in their tunes! Get into it!”

“One of the most satisfying things in the life of a radio announcer is that of a new discovery, that moment of realising you are listening to something truly lovely that should bring joy to everyone who hears it. That was very much the case on spinning Laura Hill and the Tuesday Bandits’ debut album “Over My Shoulder”. It made my day. This is surely one of the most delightful albums of 2009! It will cause the rain to stop and the sun to shine and etch smiles on the face of every listener. It is infectiously happy.
- John Carver – Presenter, Across The Tracks, PBS 106.7FM

“… well-rounded, melodic, gentle and, for a local debut, impressively on par with many a more established artist’s output [...] Laura Hill And The Tuesday Bandits have created a solid debut with “Over My Shoulder”, which is particularly impressive considering it’s a self-driven effort. It’s a baking biscuits on a Sunday afternoon kind of record: exceedingly pleasant, warm, sweet and, well… civilised.”

“Over My Shoulder is a beautiful collection of songwriting ranging from thoughtful acoustic tracks to feel good, toe tapping catchy tunes.”

“Laura Hill makes me wish I lived in a sunny warm country so I could sit in the park with a selection of fine wines to choose from and a girlfriend to share them with. Laura is a real talent, mixing good song writing with a beautiful voice. I hope she comes to London soon!”
